new raised bedsNew Raised Vegetable Beds

My existing softwood raised bed have collapsed, I need to replace them all. The question was, with what?

After many scribbles and schemes I came up with a plan that marries Corrugated Galvanised iron with Green Oak. By using 30cm sections of corrugated iron driven in as domestic sheet piling I could then fix an Oak capping to stiffen and provide a user friendly top. This was fairly economic without being too bulky, the downside being the time required to fabricate and fix.

The first of four is now in place and looks pretty good, I will add lots of compost and sharp sand to improve our local clay loam and see them ready for early spring activity.
