Eucomis bedtime  Tucked Away

After a few gentle frosts I am keen to lift my Pineapple Lilies (Eucomis)

before any damage is done. At first I considered a pot, but feared they might connect it with growing, so opted for a cardboard box, with more hibernating hedgehog connections. I swept the wood shavings up around my bench and laid my six bulbs on a bed of scented oak shavings.

Last year I had no flowers as they were developing strength and size from tiny offset bulbs from the previous year, So I have high hopes for 2015.

Related to the Hyacinth and native to Africa they are quite easy to grow while having a suggestion of the jungle
